As a wedding planner, I think I have experienced more emergencies than in any other profession. They come up fast and need to be solved immediately.
I remember one wedding where the morning was going perfect. The bride, MOB, MOG and all 8 brides maids were all getting ready, drinking champagne and having tons of fun. Until that fateful moment occurred. I saw the look on one of the brides faces and then another and another. They all started backing out of the room so I decided to go and investigate what was happening. It seems that when one of the bridesmaids was zipping up her dress, it broke. The girls did not want the bride to get upset which is why they left the room. I asked them all to go back inside and act as if nothing had happen as to not upset the bride, I told them I would handle the zipper. crisis so everyone could walk down the aisle in confidence. The bridesmaid was crying and had no idea what to do. Lucky for me, I have plenty experience at emergencies and got out the emergency kit I always carry with me! I could not believe my stroke of luck, but I happen to have the very same lime green thread as in the color of the dress. So, I began whip stitching the zipper shut from tops to bottom. It worked perfectly and the bridesmaid was relieve and gave me the biggest hug ever. I assured her that I stitched it tight and that I was sure it would stay that way all evening. However, we formed a plan. During the evening I would watch and make sure the zipper was still in place and none of the stitches were coming loose. But, if I saw it coming undone, I would simply put my hand on her shoulder and she would meet me in the bathroom. Needless to say we never met in the bathroom and the bride did not find out till they came back from their honeymoon.
