Today’s Tip – Hiring a Photographer

Like a wedding planner, you have to find a photographer you will enjoy working with as they will be interacting with you on your wedding day. Photographs are meant to last a lifetime, so don’t skimp here. Hire a photographer that specializes in weddings as they will know all the pertinent shots to get. Make sure to give them a list of photographs that are important to you. Decide if your going to do a “first look” so you can get most of your photographs done before the ceremony or if you want the time-honored tradition of the first look as you walk up the aisle. Then you and our photographer can plan accordingly.

Questions to ask when hiring a photographer:

• • What is your primary style?

• • How many weddings have you shot, and have you shot ones similar to mine?

• • How many times have you worked specifically as a wedding photographer?

• • How many other events will you photograph that weekend?

• • Will a contract of the services be provided?

SAVINGS: So many ways you can save on photographers. Decide on the package you want, ask if they will upgrade their services to the next expensive package if you sign within 24 hours.  Ask for a mini-engagement session, if you were not planning on an engagement session. Ask for an additional hour of time so you can get shots while getting ready or shots of your grant exit.   Also, if they have a session fee, ask them to waive that fee.
